Better Home Snapshots
As a professional photographer I love it when you want to use my services, but I can’t always be there for your special moments. So when documenting you own history, whether it’s a birthday party or a family vacation, you can make better keepsakes by keeping a few things in mind while capturing those spontaneous special moments.
First keep the light to your back if your the photographer. Second keep distracting background items out of the picture. For example don’t put your daughter in front of a table lamp that looks like it’s growing out of her head when you print the picture. This can be easy to miss because we become so focused on our subjects beauty.
And last but certainly not least think about old b&w photographs like from the 1880′s. Remember how everyone in those portraits looks so stiff and most of the time they are standing like they are at attention in the military. Taht’s because they had to be very still to get a sharp picture because the exposure times were so long. But we don’t have to do that today. So have your subject bend their knees, tilt their head and put their hands on their hips. This makes for much more natural and inviting poses.
