Modeling Tips Part 2
Preparing for a Shoot
I believe that prior to any shoot the photographer and models should meet to discuss the shoot. Showing up blind is a recipe for disaster.
Prior to any shoot the date, time, location, fees and releases should be discussed and appropriate documents signed. The nature and goals of the shoot should be clear. Is it a fashion, lingerie, swimsuit or product shoot? Is it in a studio or on location? Is the theme serious and brooding like many high fashion shoots or is it fun light and whimsical with lots of smiles? Is the model expected to bring some outfits and do her own hair and makeup or are stylists provided by the photographer.
Even if hair stylists and makeup artists are provided think like a boy scout and bring your own makeup, hair brush and hair spray. Take safety pins, double stick tape, business cards, different color bras and underwear (at least nude, black & white), a robe and sweater to every shoot just in case.
Sure if you’ve worked with a photographer a number of times and know that they provide what they say you can plan accordingly. But when in general arriving over prepared is better and will free you from worrying which will translate into better shots.
